A lovely trotting Friesian mare is sketched in the trot to print and color at home. This cherished and stylish black riding and driving breed of horse from the Netherlands has a unique heritage and is a favorite of horse lovers everywhere.
The first Friesian horses we ever saw in person were in Leavenworth, WA almost thirty years ago. Now, a few handfuls of Friesians may be found in almost every State. Because of their large size and partial draft genetic background, they have very large, round feet that require larger sizes than the usual riding horse. They make excellent driving horses and are frequently featured in State Fair exhibitions where all may admire them.
